I think it has been published using Optical Character Recognition - OCR often leads to these sort of errors. There are a few others in the text, which I predict will not regain any popularity it once had!

Am still working my way through the text, and it certainly doesn’t read as anything but authentic. In fact, I clearly recall my father giving me a similar book to read (with sections sealed off based on age) - a painful memory.
I may have some thoughts on this later, but I was surprised to see that as late as 1952 co-education, even in a Catholic environment, was being condemned. The references comparing nocturnal emissions to “poisoned candy,” and general references to “lower appetites” and “unseemly body parts” were also interesting. The advice to “. . . put all thought and curiosity about it” (i.e. sex) “as far as possible out of your mind” until married was also interesting.
