The Pope’s imminent death is a good opportunity to evangelize. Clear up all those misconceptions about the role of the Papacy that many have. Many people will ask us Catholics all sorts of questions - be ready to answer and converse with Faith, Hope and Charity. The Pope has been tremendous. We must pray for his soul and he in turn will do even more good when he makes it through to Blessed Union.

Good point! I’ve already tried to clear up some misconceptions of fallen away Catholics re: the Terri Schiavo case. This will be a further opportunity.

I absolutely agree. I see all this news coverage as a wonderful thing. Look at all the free coverage the Pope and the Church are getting. It seems as though there are now numerous Catholic TV stations. I truly see that the coverage of the process of the Pope dying before the entire world could trigger a sort of rebirth within the Church.

Dear friend

I posted this in another thread but it applies more to your thread and I agree with you, the Pope evangelises even until death…that is the power and witness of his suffering!

Dear friend

Yes. The whole world is looking to Rome and our Holy Father. Some people are out mowing their lawns and not giving him a second thought, but some poeple, even athiests are looking to Rome and are saddened and grieving, respectful of a man and his endurance in faith.

During these days no-one can escape the Catholic faith unless they are on a desert island and have no radio or tv.

The whole world is focused on the flag-ship of our faith, the Vatican and all aspects of our faith are being discussed.

Newsreporters are talking about ‘Our Lord’ and ‘Jesus’, words I have very rarely heard on their lips at all.

How bright a light our Pope is shining on the world, even until death by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I agree!

YES! One of the news channels this morning interviewed 2 college-aged women who are in the Vatican City.

One, a traditional Catholic who said very loving things about the Pope.

The other, an atheist, who came out of curiosity to see why so many would be deeply motivated to be close to this man. She admitted that she wanted to learn more about this man. :yup: Maybe we will have another lost soul joining our family in the future.

The Pope is turning hearts even in his last hours.

:gopray:

I agree. I have been trying to clear up so many misconceptions about the Pope and the Catholic Church on a message board I frequent.

One of the biggest misconceptions coming from some Protestants claiming that since the Pope believed in a false Gospel, he will not be going to heaven.

I’ve encountered questions and curiosity from other message boards also. I really think that there are many protestants who are actually very open to learning about our beliefs. We all need to brush up on our knowledge and apologetics skills because the Pope’s passing is most certainly going to spark questions.

Let’s all be prepared! 👍
