In England there is BBC News 24.

news.bbc.co.uk/

On this site is a section called ‘Have your say’. Topical issues are discussed. Currently ‘should humanity explore Mars in search of life!’

Inevitably there are the posters who are anti-religion and anti-Christian. Some of their absurd postings are so off-beat yet they get popular support from the ‘have your say readership’ which is worldwide. Comments like:

‘If we find life, that will put the God myth to sleep for good’ and

‘The pursuit of science should be the only one true god allowed to be worshipped on this planet’, and

‘We need to find a planet where we can start again and ban all religious nutters from migrating’ and

‘I look forward to the day when Christians say:sorry, you were right and we were wrong, God does not exist’, etc etc

There are some damn good Christian apologetics on this forum defending both Catholic and Protestant positions. I suggest we collectively pool our resources and go ‘hunting’ together on the net for sites like BBC 24 to post missionary material to counter some of the obscene publications that are insulting and offensive to Christians and non-Christian religions alike.

Please go to the link above and look for ‘Have your say’ on the left hand column, upon opening you will see the Mars topic.

The editors publish according to the number of views expressed. I suggest we collectively keep an eye on this site [and similar] to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On this occasion suspend our differences and work together by allowing the Holy Spirit to enable us to bring Christ to these forums.

What better coordination point than the CAF forum to evangelise and take the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then to come back here and share notes about progress etc

Blessings and peace

Lily, Fr. Robert Hugh Benson’s Lord of the World was quite prophetic, wasn’t it? 😦

Absolutely. This brilliant writer and genius was very insighted into the problems that would face humanity a century after his conversion. He was influenced by GK Chesterton, though himself not a Catholic at the time of writing, was critical of ‘creeping secularism’.

The son of the Archbishop of Canturbury, his conversion and ordination rocked the Protestant establishment in the UK

I was delighted to learn that there is a revival of interest in his writings and books. 🙂

Blessings and peace

I’m not sure if it is okay to post a thread with a link to another forum and call people over there to post on it… people used to get in trouble for this on CAF though it might be different now, it’s been a while since I’ve been a regular poster. Just read the rules to make sure you’re in line.

Not much you can do to stop people saying things like that on the internet. Most of those posts you read hardly warrant an intelligent response, they’re just having a go at us but don’t have anything decent to back up their problem with us. You would expect the moderators to remove such insulting posts, but if they don’t then such a forum is unfriendly territory and you’re gonna have a hard time getting through to anyone there.

Official policy can be found in Rules of the Road, Rallying Cries.

CAF prohibits posting addresses or telephone numbers of individuals, institutions, or commercial enterprises. It also prohibits “board swarms,” which are calls for members to go to another web site or Internet discussion forum to harass its proprietors or members. Some confusion has arisen as to whether these policies preclude members from utilizing CAF to draw attention to matters on which they feel compelled to voice support or opposition, based on religious and/or moral convictions

Please visit the thread to read the full text explaining the policy.
