Hi! In counseling a great friend who is doing holy work at a secular place and being persecuted there … I recalled a “saint story” I’d heard several times before, buy could not find a la Google so far
A discouraged Christian said a prayer and his angel came to show him something in a vision.
They went to a great walled city guarded by ONE (visible just to THEM) demon atop the city gate.
The angel led the man to a room in the city wherein lay a sleeping saint. Then he let the man see a legion of demons around the saints’ bed, down the hall, at the window and on the wall outside looking in on him … all ready to war against the saint once he awoke.
The man was aghast!
“Unfair!” cried the man to his angel.
"This saint is beset worse than I am! "
“Why is there just one demon guarding the city, and so many ganging up on the poor solitary saint?”
- “ONE demon is enough to guard THIS city”, the angel said, " as it is already in the devil’s power."
“But look how discouraged the legion of demons is,” he continued.
“Though they are allowed to tempt, discourage, and oppose the saint at every turn
… soon he will awake and, being strong in the Holy Spirit, he will thwart them in their deceptions, and temptations as he rescues souls from them and puts their Kingdom to route.” 
The man realized that, in a smaller way, he too was suffering for Jesus and saving souls.
