I was wondering, while the angels are spiritual beings, did for example Archangel Gabriel appear to people, having the same characteristics, every time, for example always the same blonde hair, face, height and so on?

Ion posits an impossible-to-Answer question : "I was wondering …[did] Archangel Gabriel appear to people, having the same characteristics, every time, for example always the same blond hair, face, height and so on?"

Do you think that SOME people saw Gabriel as having blond hair?

Anyway, since NO accounts of Gabriel’s height, weight or hair color (from ancient days) have survived into the Present Age, I think discussing this is like throwing darts onto a dartboard.

I understand you do not know, but what do you think, did he appear with the same human body?

Considering Satan can appear in many different guises it would appear that they can also.

If an Angel appeared to a child he may be more gentle looking whereas if an Angel turned up to help you fight the enemy he may look more dominating.

I would imagine that Gabriel probably appeared the same to each of the people he showed himself to.
This would be especially True in the case of his appearances to Joseph and Mary.
In that instance, they probably compared notes on how he looked.

Angels have no human soma, but can appear as one, or not.

Since our LORD, who DOES have a human soma, still varied His appearance from time to time, I’d imagine an Angel could do the same.

The bible describes what an angel looks like, according to this, they look nothing like a human, this verse says they have eyes covering their entire bodies and wings, they are said to have 4 heads, said to wear alot of precious stones and jewelry as well. Ive also heard they are close to 18ft tall, not sure where I heard this, but I believe somewhere in the bible, it does mention their height in Jewish cubits.

I will look for a reference to their height though.

I dont think they would appear to us in their true form as it would be too much for a human to see, and they would probably run away in fear.

the beings with wings and eyes are not angels, they are cherubim
Yes, I just found this info about them…

**Each cherub was 180" high or 15 feet. It’s wingspan was 15 feet across (1 wing =5 cubits)

Body includes hands, wings, wheels and face: Ezekiel 10:12-22

Guards: Gen. 3:24.

Attendants: Ezekiel 10:3-22; Isa. 6:2-6; Ezek. 1:4-28; 10:3-22.

4 faces, not heads.

I’d imagine that instead of a human head with sides and a back, they have faces wrapped around their head.

Among other things this would allow for 360 degree vision, and omnidirectional smell (if they breathe or smell).

(Presumably they never need to lie down.)

Well the Bible mentions very few ‘Angelic apparitions’, sometimes in dreams (like for Joseph).

The features of the angels is not described.

I think it would be pointless for the angel ‘to appear the same way all the time’, but rather it would make more sense to appear ‘in a way people can relate to “him”’ (I am putting “he” and “him” in quotation marks since angels have no gender at all, but to use “it” would be improper since they are ‘persons’)

Gabriel, when “he” appeared to Mary, probably appeared with Jewish features, ie dark hair, tanned skin, etc…

Later on artists made angels “nordic looking”, with lond hair, blue eyes, etc… but that was because that was the ‘concept of beauty’ at the times.

There are some Christmas songs that say that “Baby Jesus had blond curly hair”… but of course it’s just an artist interpretation) since Jesus looked Jewish, so he had black or brown hair.

Actually they describe there different types of Angels.

Seraphim have 6 wings, for example, two wings cover the face and two the feet (of course this has a LOT to do with SYMBOLISM).

“Thrones” look like ‘wheels’

You must NOT take the descriptions of angels in the bible too literally. Often they are “visions” (like in Ezechiel or in Revelation) or are in allegorical context (Genesis 3).

These physical descriptions (found later also in Old Testament Apocrypha or writings like the Talmuld) are strongly Symbolic. The appearance of the angels say something about them but not actually their ‘looks’ since they have no true physical body.

FOR EXAMPLE, in some traditions Satan has 12 wings, twice as the common Seraph, indicating he was “the greatest of the Seraphim” (which are the angelic creatures closer to God).
