I first posted this under the Sacred Scripture section, but didn’t get any responses, so let me try here.

It seems I read a Biblical passage once where the angles were coming to God and lamenting over the tragic conditions on earth. Can anyone point me to that passage please?

The only passage I can think of is from yesterday’s Mass reading from Gen 18:
20 Then the LORD said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous 21 that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”

22 The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked?
If you remember last Sunday’s readings from Gen 18:1-2 you will see these “men” came to Arbraham to his home, it turns out they were actually angels (19:1).

Could you be thinking of 2 Peter 2? That chapter goes into a great deal of detail about man’s wickedness and mentions that even though all of that is true the angels do not ask for judgement on us.

Also you might be thinking of the Book of Revelations wherein the Angels are moving about quiet a bit and dealing out God’s wrath upon our evil ways. Especially in the “teen” chapters.

Anyway, I hope these help.

Has anyone any true stories of angels visiting us in today’s world. We do hear of miracles occasionally at Lourdes and other places, but have there been reports of angels visiting us recently, praying for us, keeping us out of danger?

I do believe I have a guardian angel, and I believe I have given him cause for concern in my younger days, but I thank the Lord for what he did for me, pulling me away from moral and physical dangers.

Found it—

Zechariah 1:11-17.

11 And they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees and said, “We have patrolled the earth; see, the whole earth is tranquil and at rest!”
12 Then the angel of the Lord spoke out and said, **“O LORD of hosts, how long will you be without mercy for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that have felt your anger these seventy years?” **
13 To the angel who spoke with me, the LORD replied with comforting words.
14 And the angel who spoke with me said to me, Proclaim: Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am deeply moved for the sake of Jerusalem and Zion,
15 and I am exceedingly angry with the complacent nations; whereas I was but a little angry, they added to the harm.
16 Therefore, says the LORD: I will turn to Jerusalem in mercy; my house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts, and a measuring line shall be stretched over Jerusalem.
17 Proclaim further: Thus says the LORD of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity; the LORD will again comfort Zion, and again choose Jerusalem.

You might also be thinking of the martyrs under the altar in the Book of Revelation:
When he broke open the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the witness they bore to the word of God. They cried out in a loud voice, “How long will it be, holy and true master, before you sit in judgment and avenge our blood on the inhabitants of the earth?” Each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to be patient a little while longer until the number was filled of their fellow servants and brothers who were going to be killed as they had been. (Revelation 6:9-11)
