Here are some translations …

Mark 1:4

Authorized version: “John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”

New: “John, nicknamed ‘The Dipper,’ was ‘The Voice.’ He was in the desert, inviting people to be dipped, to show they were determined to change their ways and wanted to be forgiven.”

Mark 1:10-11

Authorized version: “And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him. And there came a voice from the heaven saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

New: “As he was climbing up the bank again, the sun shone through a gap in the clouds. At the same time a pigeon flew down and perched on him. Jesus took this as a sign that God’s spirit was with him. A voice from overhead was heard saying, ‘That’s my boy! You’re doing fine!’”

Matthew 23:25

Authorized version: “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!”

New version: “Take a running jump, Holy Joes, humbugs!”

Matthew 26:69-70

Authorized version: “Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, ‘Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.’ But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.”

New: “Meanwhile Rocky was still sitting in the courtyard. A woman came up to him and said: 'Haven’t I seen you with Jesus, the hero from Galilee?” Rocky shook his head and said: ‘I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about!’"

1 Corinthians 7:1-2

KJV: “Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.”

New: “Some of you think the best way to cope with sex is for men and women to keep right away from each other. That is more likely to lead to sexual offences. My advice is for everyone to have a regular partner.”

1 Corinthians 7:8-7

KJV: “I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.”

New: “If you know you have strong needs, get yourself a partner. Better than being frustrated.”

Unfortunately, they are very real. I saw an article online about this yesterday.

I’m so happy I’m Catholic. As bad as things are in our church, we’re so much better off than those goofy fornicating Anglicans.

The good news is that, ever since the “bishop” Robinson scandal, the Anglicans have been jumping ship in droves to come over to the Barque of Peter! 👍

I really hope more Anglicans “cross the Tiber”. This is a good thing in a sense. The more they fall into apostacy, the more the Catholic Church will stand out proclaiming the Gospel. I think the fact that Paul VI wrote Humanae Vitae in the 60’s is proof infalliblity. Ever since Anglicans endorsed contraceptives in the 30’s, they and all other protestant churches are bending with society.

It’s like even though things are really bad, they’re really good because the church’s teachings shine brighter.

I’m one of those who jumped ship over Robinson. We jumped ship and are swimming as fast as we can to the Catholic Church. The Episcopal Church is in its death throes I fear and losing any shred of moral or spiritual relevance in today’s world. This just confirms my fears…

I think when theres women “priests” in a denomination i think they’ve lost whatever shred of Holy orders, Truth, or tradition they may have ever possesed.

But with everything happening in that church I’m becoming afraid for my friends who enjoy the camps etc. I do say they are really Jesus centered like a vacation bible school but whenever I saw women dressed as a priest my heart sank and I just prayed to God for mercy on the whole world.( we need mercy too 😉 )

Well may God set all our forlorn brothers straight again on the narrow path.

Peace and God Bless

Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) has shared pulpits with the Episcopalian church. The ELCA has women pastors and the Episcopalians are ordaining gay ministers. 😦

I am LCMS, and we have little in common with the ELCA anymore.

All of you Catholics that want the Protestants back into the fold may get your prayers answered. At the rate in which protestant churches are embracing sin and bad theology all of the children of God will be drawn to what is left—which just might be the Catholic Church; if the Catholic Church remains strong against the sin infecting Protestant churches.

I saw the truth I only wish that many of my friends - including my wife would see it.
They believe in the branch theory - that they are just one of the arms of the Catholic church - of course the Catholic church doen’t see it that way.
I no linger do either.
🙂

I agree – “Vicki” Gene Robinson was the last straw in the Episcopal Church. “Theology by committee” just does not work. We ran screaming and many of our friends as well. Hard to run towards the CC in this most heretical of Diocese (LA) tho – although I believe the Orthodox are a feisty minority.

Welcome! Join the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church because she teaches the TRUTH. Don’t reject her because some of her members (including cardinals and archbishops) are dissenting and disloyal. They are not the Church.

We’re only 40 years out from Vatican II (1962-65). Historians tell us that every Council is followed by upheavel in the Church. It takes about 100 years to work through and assimilate the teachings of an ecumenical (general) Council. We’ve got about 60 years to go before tranquility returns. But the old dissidents are dying, and new priests faithful to the Holy Father and the Magisterium are emerging. The Barque of Peter has not overturned in 2,000 years in spite of scalawags without and within. And she has never, never taught heresy.

The “powers of death” (Mt 16:18 RSV) shall not prevail against Christ’s Church!

It’s a short swim across the Tiber. We’re waiting for you with open arms on the other side.

Ex-Southern Baptist, ex-agnostic, ex-atheist, ecstatic to be Catholic!

I LOVE THIS CHURCH !!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I know this is from the Lord, because looking around, you would NEVER join the CC here in LA. We have joined up with a great Bible Study group, tho, very Orthodox and also disgusted with this diocese. Thanks for the welcome, the encouragement.

Is the Episcopal Church still tied to the Aglican community since the concecration of Gene Robinson? You don’t hear much about it anymore. Why does the news harp on scandals in the Catholic Church? The problem in the Episcopal church was so short lived on the news.

is to be a decision made sometime this fall about what to do regarding the status of the church in the US. What will happen, and what the response of the “winning” and “losing” parties will be is anybody’s guess. But I’m guessing it will all be in the news again.

Oh, it’s in the news alright, but it just doesn’t make the front page. Check the religion section of your paper, and there’s usually something about what’s going on. Why doesn’t it get much coverage?I’m guessing it will all be in the news again.

Yes, the ECUSA is still part of the the Anglican Communion, though some of the more conservative factions in Africa and Asia are trying hard to change that. It’s in the news alright, but it just doesn’t make the front page. Check the religion section of your paper, and there’s usually something about what’s going on. Why doesn’t the Robinson deal get as much press as some of the stuff going on in the RCC right now? I’m just guessing, but much of it seems to be the nature of the scandal. Although a lot of people feel that having an openly gay bishop is just plain wrong, nobody’s been accused of anything that would normally lead to a lawsuit or jail time. (Now, if you ask the question why sex ABUSE by RC clergy seems to get more air time than abuse by non-RC clergy, that’s a different issue. Philip Jenkins has some ideas about that, for example.)

Probably because the liberal left won’t prey on its own. At least, not while they’ve got easier targets.
