Anglicans continue to meet and discuss ordination issues:

A delegation of American bishops flew into London yesterday for talks with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, following reports that they are to be severely disciplined by the worldwide Anglican Church.

The liberal bishops have been dismayed by suggestions that they could be barred by Dr Williams from Anglican summits as punishment for backing Anglicanism’s first actively gay bishop last year. The delegation has the support of the liberal Primate of the American Episcopal Church, Bishop Frank Griswold, who presided at the consecration of Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire.

The problem is the Archbishop doesn’t really have any real power to get these bishops to do anything. All he can really do is (again) appeal for provinces to not carry out any actions which would damage the communion.

We experience much of the same nowadays - somehow, we seem to have become “prisoners” of our own administrative techniques these days in many circumstances.

I don’t understand. Why is this news? Why should we care?

Unless the substance of the article is, “Anglican Bishops Meet to announce their guilt and crimes begining in the murder of St Thomas Moore and beg forgiveness for their sins and humbly request membership in the Catholic church” then this is not news.

Well, for one thing; this IS a forum about non-Catholic religions.

Perhaps you should care because these are people who desperately need your prayers.

Both Churches are experiencing serious problems on account of homosexual priests and bishops. I suppose that is the link which Sophia saw and why she posted the article?

And also because we are all brethren (and sistren, of course :)) in Christ 🙂 - so what wounds one, wounds and affects and impairs the well-being of all.
