So if I might clarify for my own self, by the statement that, “the Anglican Church doesn’t have and hard doctrine” mean that their doctrines are ofter time subject to a democratic decision where by the popular opinion can change doctrine?

Yeah that’s about right. Sorry but this is why I HATE Anglicanism (regular brand, ACNA, continuing etc.) To me “via media” would have some set doctrines because it’s “supposed” to be middle way between protestantism and Catholicism which would hint that it has doctrines that are set up different that prods and Catholics. To me Anglicanism is wishy washy with it’s “oh well we believe this or that but you don’t have to” there really is no authority in this it’s a intellectual free for all. Unfortunately this is what my husband likes he can believe what he wants and still take communion and be an altar server. Me, the little housewife can’t STAND this, I need grounding Anglicanism is just too shaky. So as I’ve stated in most threads I participate in on this subject please pray for me and my husband-I REALLY want to convert but I have a fervent hardcore anti-Catholic under the roof whom I’ve made vows to and plan on being with for rest of my life…

If they did, they would be made not only by Anglican apologists but by people across the ideological spectrum. (That’s why your source’s distortion of MacCulloch was a serious issue–it represented a bogus attempt to enlist a serious, more or less secular though Anglican-sympathizing scholar on behalf of a position he did not in fact endorse.

What would make asettled fact for you Edwin? A papal seal? I have an active mind, I read the evidence put forward by classical scholars and the opposition and make my mind up according to what I read from ,[in this case Anglican Scholars, or don’t you believe our scholars can be objective You build your case from your obvious disappointments!

There were foreigners in the English episcopate long before the Conquest. Three Norman bishops held important English Sees in the reign of St. Edward the Confessor; William in London (1051-75), Ulf in Dorchester (1050-2) and Robert of Jumieges at Canterbury (1051-2). Robert of Jumieges, along with Cynsige and Ealdred of York both travelled to Rome to receive the pallium in 1051, 1055 and 1061 respectively…

Not to mention Theodore of Tarsus 668AD.
