As some of you will know from reading my other thread, I’ve been reading the bible.

I’ve been a little put off by some of it. Right now, I just finished reading Leviticus. I don’t mean to sound disrespectful, but why are they slaughtering so many animals as offerings to God? That seems really … pagan to me. And the talk of splashing the blood on the sides of the altar.

Is this ok or did someone slip me something in my drink?

here’s another question. Why (in my bible) is the old testament 1100 pages long but the new testament is only like 600 pages? I’m really tempted to just forget the old testament all together but I’m determined to read the whole thing.

Since all of the OT sacrifices point to the fulfillment in Christ, that is the underlying reason. At times sacrifices wer increased in order to tun Israel away from idoltry.

Thanks, I wish we got EWTN in our area. I’ll have to listen to them at home so I don’t get flagged here at work!

The Old Testament covers a much longer period of time than the New Testament. All that history takes space…Remember your high school World History text & how heavy it was? I passed that course:p over 40 years ago, &😉 it still makes me tired to remember carrying it up & down the stairs!!
But it’s true: the whole Old Testament points to Christ.
