I hate this “hurry up and wait” attitude with doctors.

Don’t get me started. My mother was in her last year of life, very sick and she had to wait like three months to see a specialist for her failing kidneys. I always wonder if they would have got her in immediately if she might not have gotten an extra year or two of life.

At times like those I say to myself “I should have become a ________and make a difference.” filling the blank with whatever position/title the other professional has.
