I was talking to my mother, and she said back when she had breast cancer the priest said he was giving her a special one time annointing of the pope. Or maybe called the blessing of the pope.He said you can only get this one special blessing once in a lifetime. I have never heard of this. Does anyone know what this is called, or even if it’s sounds right. Or any background info on it.

Usually a Blessing is given during “Last Rites”. Yes the Church still has “Last Rites”. It is three Sacraments (Penance, Anointing of the sick, Holy Communion as Viaticum and this special blessing called the “Apostolic Blessing” which has attached a Plenary Indulgence. (yes the church still has Indulgences)
