Annoying ads blocking posts

Is anyone else getting drop down ads that are taking up a fair chunk of real estate? They cover almost all of the posts when I’m responding to someone.

All I can recommend is to invest in a good ad blocker or, for five dollars, become a patron. With the ad blocker, I only saw the Catholic singles clip at the top of the page because it’s a direct ad from CAF. As a patron, even that’s gone!

You can PM a moderator and explain the issue. Be sure to tell them what device you are using and any specific ads that seem to be the worst. They may bring that to the attention of their ad agency to be a better citizen on the size of their ads.

I was thinking of patronage. But we donate to certain charities already and $5 a month to the forum? I’ve donated before but I’d rather not commit to a monthly amount.

But hey, just downloaded a free adblocker and it seems to be working. Perversely enough the download for the app warned ‘Contains adverts’. I wonder if it blocks itself…
 
Yes, too often. That and the ‘moving ads’. Look CAF, I already have cataracts and other vision problems including floaters and flashers. The last thing I need is to have annoying people gesturing above me while I’m trying to respond in writing to a written post.

Yeah, I find that moving Catholic Chemistry ad a little distracting, especially that close-up of the gal with the huge toothy grin that almost feels in my face. The guy doesn’t feel quite so intrusive. I try to ignore it, and don’t have a problem with any ads covering posts.

My browser blocks a lot of ads.
 
Well, they have to generate revenue some way to keep the site running, so I do not mind the ads. Oh, and I have an ad blocker installed on my primary browser, so I miss most of them.

No but i’ve seen catholicchemistry.com so many times i’m losing my mind, if i see any of those actors in the streets i’m going to have what i call “The Trivago effect”, its when the actor was seen so many times that it becomes “Trivago Guy”.
