Good evening, I want to come into the Catholic Church. I’m praying my previous marriage gets annulled. I have never been baptized and am very excited to become a Christian. I realize it can take many months or longer to go through this process and am hoping for your prayers as I continue the journey into the Church. God bless you.

It is difficult to pray for and support something with no facts. Perhaps it is God’s will that your marriage be not annulled and/or has no basis for such a request. I wish you the best but I think it would be presumptuous to pray for a positive outcome; rather I will pray that God’s will be done.

Your wait is nearly likely over. Once ours went to the archdiocese, we had an answer inside of a week.

Just to say if your marriage is not found invalid you may be able to get it dissolved using Pauline/Petrine privilege.

Thank you for the information. I have started researching this. I had no idea such a thing existed. According to my findings the boxes get checked in my scenario for this to occur.

.
I understand some of what you are going through, since my former marriage was annulled.
As my annulment went forward, I thought that it may be denied. But then I would have never remarried, accepting this as the right thing.

The whole process from me took almost
16 months. I think it depends on how big the diocese is and how many annulments
need to be processed.

It’s a pretty small diocese but I don’t know how many annulments are in process. I just assume it will take a long time. Hopefully all the witnesses reply in a timely manner. It’s an exercise in patience as waiting a year to even receive the Sacrament of Baptism is not easy!

It is definitely a process of patience.
I pray yours will progress quickly so you
cn get the informtion you need in order to
know how to proceed on your journey.
As you say, the witnesses responing in a
timely manner will certainly help. Were you assigned a deacon or anyone to help you through the process if you have any
questions?

Agreed we can’t be certain but if the marriage is not found to be invalid it is a potential avenue to them being free to marry in the Church that I thought they should know about. I don’t think my post implied that they would definitely be able to get the marriage dissolved.

I’m never sure when which privilege applies, which is why I listed both.

Thank you. Yes the Deacon is my advocate and he has been very helpful.

Did you need to provide a list of witnesses? I’m thinking getting replies from those folks is a big factor. I am not even baptized so perhaps that will quicken the process.
