Annulment of Marriage

I have a question. I am going through an annulment. After reviewing the questions, they have decided to proceed with a Tribunal Hearing on the grounds that I had a grave lack of due discretion and a psychic inability to assume the obligations of marriage. Since the reasons for having an annulment have been placed on my shoulders should they decide to grant the annulment, how would this effect any possibilities of a future marriage? Someone told me that they might grant an annulment, but refuse to allow me to ever marry again.

Having the inability to assume the obligations of marriage means you were not ready to be married. Unless that has changed, you may still not be ready to be married. I doubt that it would mean that you would never be ready to marry, but that you might not be ready now.

The judge may stipulate that you can not marry immediately. They might require some additional counseling. I wouldn’t worry about marriage being denied permanently, though…I have never heard of such a thing happening.

When an Annulment is granted both are free to seek another Marriage if they want. However if there are special issues found the Tribunal may require either party to receive special pre-Marriage counseling first.

Cross that bridge when you come to it. The issue may or may not still exist.

If the marriage is found to be invalid and you receive a decree of nullity, the tribunal may or may not stipulate requirements you must satisfy before contracting a marriage. They will tell you more about that when the time comes.

If they decide to grant the annulment, and those things are still a factor, then you shouldn’t marry again.

If you don’t think those things were actually true, perhaps you should not seek an annulment on those grounds.

If you get the annulment, and circumstances have changed, then marrying might be fine.
