Hello,

I was hoping someone might be able to expand further on the following ground for annulment:

Willful exclusion of marital permanence (Canon 1101, sec. 2)

I had serious doubts before marriage which I ignored thinking I could always divorce after if things didn’t work out. Deposits had been paid and invitations had already been sent so there was considerable pressure not to call off the wedding. Always thought I had a way out if my intuition was right. The marriage lasted only 8 short months. Wish I had listened to that little voice inside my head earlier.

I think this could be grounds for an annulment, but I’d like to clarify the cannon first.

Thanks for your advice and insight.

Regards,
Shawnee

Who knew about this? Family, friends? You need witnesses to support annulment grounds whatever they may be.

I shared this with a few friends. Particularly, my mother knew all the details but told me it was probably just cold feet.

When I applied for annulment I did the entirety of the paperwork and submitted it to the Tribunal. The Tribunal then decided to accept my case and with the letter stating their acceptance they listed the grounds they were using. Don’t worry about grounds. The Tribunal will handle that and the grounds used might be a surprise to even you.

It could be grounds, however, only the Marriage Tribunal can make that call. If you are thinking of applying for an annulment, you should do it right away, while the circumstances are still in people memories.
