Wondering what documents are required for annulment when converting? Do I need proof of the divorce? Also do you need proof of your baptism? I’m having a hard time getting this information Thanks!
I can’t give you any first hand info as I have not been through the process myself.
However, diocesan tribunal offices do require that a person is civilly divorced before pursuing an annulment. And whether or not the parties are baptized (and whether or not at least one of them is Catholic) can also change which avenues are open to be pursued. So it seems likely to me that documents regarding your divorce and Baptism would be needed at some point in the process. But a lot is going to depend on the particulars of your situation.
Even so, if you are anticipate problems with any of these, just bring up those issues. The people at the tribunal office can help you with all of that.
I would encourage you to reach out to the priest at the parish you plan on attending RCIA at to get the ball rolling. Some parishes (like mine) have a designated lay person as the “advocate” for anyone from the parish who is pursuing an annulment to help them through the process and answer your questions. If that were the case, you’d want to talk to that person, too.
Talk with your pastor first. Every annulment process is different. Anonymous posters can give you factual information that, unfortunately, isn’t germane to your situation. Joe is correct that an annulment procedure will not even be considered until a civil divorce is present. Or some form of legal resolution is made in the case of the civil contract of marriage.
See you pastor.
Shalom
