No, I think you believe, but what you are doing is ignoring all our answers. You were answered, you have the best answers anyone can give you. It’s pretty simple.

Matthew knew Mary , she probably cooked for him, he probably chopped wood and brought water for her.

No doubt they grieved together when Christ was crucified

John , one of the Gospel authors, who no doubt was in touch with Luke, and spent 3 years in the company of Matthew and Mary when Jesus was ministering, and then had Mary come and live with him, also ate what Mary cooked, prayed with her.

What you are not believing is that Mary would have recounted the visit from the Angel Gabriel to her. It wasn’t a secret.

You have as much documented proof as you do of the rest of Jesus life, ministry, passion and resurrection.

Thank you again Rose, but you’re again, falling back to “ what most likely happened and how logical it sounds…”Where does it SAY THAT?

Please forget it Rose. Thank you for trying to help. For some very odd reason, you feel the need to believe that I DONT BELIEVE the Annunciation. ALL I ASKED was where and when were Matthew or Luke TOLD of the Annunciation And WHO TOLD THEM. I’m not looking for any story that makes sense. I’m looki…

Right so this is what Matthew says in his Gospel, right after listing the genealogy of Jesus

“”This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before they came to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.””

Now this is what Luke writes

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth,
1:27 to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
1:28 He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! The Lord is with you.’
1:29 She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean,
1:30 but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour.
1:31 Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus.
1:32 He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David;
1:33 he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’
1:34 Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?’
1:35 The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God.

After Luke has explained where he gets his information

Seeing that many others have undertaken to draw up accounts of the events that have reached their fulfilment among us,
1:2 as these were handed down to us by those who from the outset were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,
1:3 I in my turn, after carefully going over the whole story from the beginning, have decided to write an ordered account for you, Theophilus,
1:4 so that your Excellency may learn how well founded the teaching is that you have received.

So Matthew doesn’t go into the story. But Luke does. Let’s see what Mark and John say.

They don’t mention it.

So your question really only refers to Luke, since Luke is the only Gospel writer to fully discuss the Annunciation. Matthew discusses the Angel Gabriel more in respect to talking to Joseph and John the Baptists Father

That’s it, that’s all we Christians have, written down

I’m not looking for any story that makes sense. I’m looking for documented proof of that question. “Who” told MARK and Matthew about the Annunciation? Where did you find that answer.
Then you’re likely to be disappointed with the answer: what you’re looking for – explicit writings saying, verbatim, “I talked to Mary in AD 36 over coffee at Starbucks in downtown Jerusalem” – just doesn’t exist.

The closest we have is the opening to Luke’s Gospel, in which he attests that he went back to the sources to verify the accounts of the Gospels, in preparation for writing his Gospel. That, to reasonable readers, would seem to indicate that he spoke to Mary (especially given the level of detail that he provides about her experiences of Jesus’ life before his public ministry). However, if you’re looking for more, you’re not going to find it. In antiquity, they didn’t document things in the way we do now; moreover, they didn’t write non-fiction in the way that we do now.

Good grief, Rose! Where does it say how Matthew or Luke found this out? For crimes sake, I know what is written. Stop sending me verses I already know of. Please show me the verse where Mary told ANYONE about her encounter with Gabriel. That’s all I want you to show me. NOTHING else. Thanks again!

Romeo, best you go ask your Priest. You know that the evidence we have is in the Gospels. You know and can read the Gospels. For you , the answer is not in the Gospels.

I will pray God grants you a little clarity if it be His Will.

🙏🕊️🌹

There are none. On the other hand, there aren’t any verses that show where Mary or Joseph told anyone about their encounter with shepherds, angels, and astrologers. Is that to be held suspect? There aren’t any verses that show where Mary (or Elizabeth) told anyone about their meeting at the time of Elizabeth’s pregnancy. Are these suspect, too?

And what about the Transfiguration? We don’t see Peter, James or John telling anyone about that event. Is it suspect?

In fact, when we look at Scripture, we need to realize that it’s not intended to be a meta-narrative; rather, it’s telling the story of salvation history. Things that aren’t part of salvation history (like the recipe for Jesus’ favorite matzoh) aren’t necessarily going to be found there – but that doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. 🤷‍♂️

What do people do when they lose someone?
They get together and share the experiences and memories with that person
And what do they do when they live in the same house?
Do they spend all their mealtimes in silence, sharing nothing?
Do they not speak of what matters most to them
About the person they love, about what happened in their lives,.
At Jesus request John took Mary intones home and treated her as if she was his own mother.
They had both stood at the foot of the cross watching the Person each of them most loved, dying in agony.

It is really very illogical to believe that Mary didn’t share all there is to share with John and in turn, to their close friends.
