Hello,
I was on the process of making a local community website and was on the sacraments web page when I got curious of “extreme unction” so I searched then took a look at what it says in Canon Law. I then remembered that our family asked the parish administer to my grandmother who got stroke and subsequent unpredictable seizures controlled by medicine for some 2-3 months(78-79 years old then, now 80) the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick so that she may receive communion being unable to go to Mass from extraordinary ministers of communion. Our parish priest arrives at our house wearing the purple stole then did some prayers blessed my grandmother with holy water then some more prayers (I think), then he left.
So, now I thought Anointing of the Sick was with the use of oils?
My questions are:
“Was the service administered to my grandmother considered as the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick or something else? If some else, what?”
“Was the communion given to my grandmother every Sunday considered the Viaticum?”
“Does this service forgive sins making my grandmother worthy of Holy communion?”
Thanks very much!!!
