There are two patients here. The woman and the unborn baby. Doctors have to treat them both and not only the one they can see. A baby born in week 22 have a 40% chance of living a normal life when older if he or she is born in a country with good health care. The longer the child can stay in the womb the better the prognosis. The care of the neo-natal has had an amazing development in the past decades.

you respond its hearsay, none of anyones business as it is a medical issue and none of us know the circumstances.

stop responding to hearsay, its fruitless

How do I respond to those who heard of cases where someone was in the situation where a doctor said that abortion was the only way for that person to survive?
Not too long ago I watched a video of a doctor that used to perform abortions speak about this situation. In his medical opinion it is extremely rare, if ever necessary to abort a child in order to save the life of a mother. During the abortion procedure, it usually takes between two to three days to prepare the cervix and perform the abortion. So in the event that there is a serious medical emergency where the mother’s life is legitimately at risk, the effective practice is to induce labor, deliver the baby, and then provide treatment. Now, the baby may not live depending on its maturity through this process, but this is completely different than intentionally killing the baby. The same goes, for example, when the mother needs treatment for a condition while she is pregnant (let’s assume she has cancer and needs chemotherapy). Based on the decision of the mother, doctors may provide chemotherapy to treat the mother’s cancer, and the baby may die as a result of the side effects of the cancer medication; however, again this is completely different than intentionally killing the baby. What is more typical is that doctors who support abortion play fast and loose with the vocabulary of what is “medically necessary” or what conditions are considered to have a “serious medical impact” on the mother. But in truly urgent situations, this is rarely the cause. This is also a red herring because those who support abortion try to use the worst-case, statistically insignificant scenario that is exceptionally rare, to justify the elective murder of babies for any reason.

My response is “I would hope that any physician would use the very best medical treatment(s) to save both mother and child.”
