Hello everybody!
I must have your suggestions on this matter, because I’m positively worried.
A friend of mine was baptised, got confirmed and took catechism in school for a long time. His mother being a nominal Catholic, and father being Hindu,he never quite took the Faith seriously. Also,he had been struggling with addiction for a long time, and I think he still is.I came to Delhi for studies; we lost contact but I met him after a long time a few months ago when the both of us turned up at a Protestant Service.

Last week he announced to me his desire for getting “baptised” this easter; of course i was dismayed;when he informed me he’s been attending ‘baptism classes’,i realised things were getting farther than they should. All the people in this P church are fervent Christians, and have helped my friend in several ways, particularly one person, who is delighted that he has asked for baptism.
He said in good-humoured sarcasm,“It’s time we ‘re-catechised’ your friend. He can publicly declare his faith in the meaningful baptism.” I feel cheated, helpless and angry.
They’re so happy they’ve ‘won him over’! Please tell me what to do.How do i tell my friend what he wants to do is wrong? I don’t expect him to understand the Sacramental import of Baptism,Confirmation and the Eucharist, & how this bapism would be a mockery of the one of Grace he got.

And what does the Church say about such baptisms? Post-‘baptism’, can he receive Communion? Easter Sunday is arriving…HELP!

He can only recieve one Baptism. He has already been baptised and to do so again would be unneccesary and sinful as it would signal him abandoning the Catholic faith.

I have no suggestions beyond pray for him and bring him to church with you.

I’ll keep you both in my prayers.

Peter

He’s already been baptized. To do so again would be a mistake.
