Evolution does not predict the appearance of “a totally new organism”. Evolution includes the concept of common descent which says that any new organism will be based on an already existing ancestor, and so will be similar to that ancestor in some ways and also have differences from that ancestor. A “totally new” organism would be a disproof of evolution because it would appear without any ancestors.Certainly not often enough to produce a totally new organism.
We are mammals so we have some things in common with our mammalian ancestors, such as hair and a single jawbone. We are not “totally new” but retain enough older characteristics to show where we fit in the phylogenetic tree.
