I live in Michigan, and a local group of people calling themselves “Batties” have started to be very militant, posting fliers and posters found in the “About” section of this website all over town and trying to hand out asparagus for some reason at my local parish.

Through their posters I have found this website: bateggmas.zxq.net/

Does anyone know how I can convince them of their ridiculous, false, dare I say evil, ways? How can I get these radicals to stop being so intrusive in society?

While the real persecution goes on against all religions in Muslim countries and against Christians in lands like N. Korea, these guys think that people think they are weird is being persecuted.

I suspect a wish for tax exempt status. I think they should have been a little more creative in the religion they thought up.

Are you sure that this movement is serious? Seems like it might be satire or something. But who knows, we live in a world where Jedi-ism has lobbied for tax-exempt status, so it could be a legitimate movement.

I’m assuming the Batties split off from Orthodox FSMism at some point. Someone should write the Ecumenical Batpiscopate for confirmation. 🤷

(kind of cute, but this is just a parody i’m pretty sure)

My first thought was of the Flying Spaghetti Monster too. It seems most likely to me that it’s something satirical along those lines. But I have zero experience with the group, so I could be wrong.

Hmm. Maybe. I just can’t imagine a group going to this much trouble.

Also, they say they don’t want tax-exempt status until their “grievances are addressed”, so that can’t be the reason.

I am wondering if it isn’t coming from a group what we call liberal left wingers who are also secular or atheists trying to prove some sort of a weird point about religions.

Check out the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. People really do go to that kind of trouble to make fun of actual religions

Yeah, like I said, it seems like just another FSM type thing.

Doesn’t seem like a serious movement to me, either. It’s more like satire here, as some point out. Funny when you look at it, but nothing serious to worry about.

007,

I’d be all for defending their right to be batty if it weren’t for the asparagus. 😦 Disgusting stuff! Couldn’t you infiltrate them and then blast the asparagus out of existence with one of Q’s gadgets? :bounce:

Helpfully,
Mick
