I’ve sent my complaint to E-bay and passed along to my e-mail friends links about the sale of consecrated hosts. I believe we should approach this problem by using e-bay’s own policy quoted as follows:
“Humans, the human body, or any human body parts may not be listed on eBay. Examples of prohibited items include, but are not limited to: organs, bone, blood, waste, sperm, and eggs. You may not include such items as a gift, prize, or giveaway in connection with an item listed on eBay. Items that contain human hair (such as lockets) as well as skulls and skeletons that are used for medical purposes may be listed on eBay
eBay does not permit the sale of Native American skulls, bones or other Native American grave related items, as the sale of such items may violate federal law.”
As Catholics we know a consecrated host is the BODY, BLOOD, SOUL, and DIVINITY of Jesus Christ. While I do not want to cross the line of separating the divine Jesus from the human Jesus, I believe we can argue our point that, from our perspective, a consecrated host constitutes a violation of their policy against the sale of “humans, the human body, or any human body parts”.
