Another Quick question about charity and acts of charity

Are acts of charity (say giving items to friends from school or whatever) the same thing as “donating to charity”
I’m using this in the context of small stolen items, like pens or school supplies. Is it sufficient enough to give them to friends or do you absolutely have to donate them to a charity?? I use to have a bad habit of stealing pens so i racked up quite the collection and now I feel bad, but I don’t know what to do with them now, and they are quite the burden to look at everyday knowing that I stole them

In my opinion I would consider donating supplies to a school charity yes. Underprivileged kids could certainly use the supplies and this would be a good thing.
