This writer is a German Catholic Benedictine monk. He is also a qualified counsellor/psychologist.
What I’ve read so far is interesting and not many have tackled similar topics. (to my knowledge anyway) The book I am reading now is on self-esteem. He really tries to fuse Christianity with psychology. I am just wondering if some might see his views as too “liberal”, sorry couldn’t think of a better word. 🙂

Your Christianity will become more alive when you graft them together, pruning off what is wrong with your personal views of both.

that’s a kind of esoteric answer to be honest. Care to elaborate?

I have read most of his books along the years and though some were a bit difficult then ,I found them helpful, and good read.
Yes,I remember that he adds some psychology into some of the books like the Midlife crisis ( or sth like that) but very reasonably applied imo.

Yeah I just get the impression that he is more psychologist than theologian. Sometimes he starts from a psychological premise and looks for scripture to back it up. I did pick it up from my city’s Catholic Library so it should be OK.

I think so ,yes.
I didn t read them as theology but as books that had some positive to add about different topics and stages in my life.
Hope it helps.

I’ve also discovered him quite recently. I was wondering if there is a book where dreams are debated in the light of the faith. And then surprisingly I have discovered in a christian library a book about dreams written by Anselm Grün. I found it really good and helpful.

Yes I think his gift is more psychology than theology. In fact it might be better just to read him as a psychologist/counsellor alone. Some of his insights are excellent. I am really impressed with the book called “self esteem” and fortunately there are several more books in the library by him I will take a look at.

I like that he adds psychology and he wraps things in faith. " Why me?" and another one " Healing /Healthy boundaries" ( I read them in Spanish so titles may not be those…)are two I remember right now that were helpful.
And the other one that deals with Mid life.
They were in our Catholic store at the parish and we used to buy books as gifts for each other.
Nice topic!
