Judy,

First of all W E L C 👋 M E to the forum. We hope you find what you are looking for, and if not, just ask.

NOW…effects of private sin on the community … Though you are not physically hurting anyone, you actions will be a witness to others and could hamper an individuals spiritual walk/growth.

For example: Let’s say you are single and living with you boyfriend. No big deal because it’s between you, the boyfriend and God right? Now my teenage daughter sees you sinning and decides, “Well Judy is not hurting anyone.” and she starts living with her boyfriend and gets pregnant. Your private sin caused another to sin. And what happends if my daughter decides to terminate the pregancy, then you private sin has in fact caused another to kill.

You could say, “Yeah, but it was her choice.” To which you are correct. However, you private sin planted the seed.

I hope this helps. Keep on posting 🙂

Ever heard of the word “bad influence”? Humans have impressionable minds, especially the youth. Your sins could influence others to do the same, especially if you are a person of authority or is popular. Look at how the private sins of celebrities, at least those exposed to the public, affect their admirers–not all of them are shocked or disgusted; some even glorify those sins and commit the same ones.

Shalom, amen.
