Hi,

I need some help here, as you might have read from the title. I was approached by two kind individuals from the local Kingdom Hall, and me being as young and inexperienced as I am, was in a state of confusion as I never had met any witnesses before. after coming out of the fog of confusion, I chimed in that I was a practicing Catholic when they asked if I was religious, only to find that one of the individuals was indeed a former catholic as well. I have no idea how to evangelize the person, and I come here to hopefully find some sort of answer to this interesting conundrum. God Bless,

Hello Alpha and welcom to CAF. I don 't visit this subforum much and I see no one has answered your request so allow me to do so.

There is much here on CAF you can search for that can get you going in the right direction concerning JWs. Here are some of my favorites.

catholic.com/blog/trent-horn/evangelizing-jehovah’s-witnesses
catholic.com/tracts/stumpers-for-the-jehovahs-witnesses
catholic.com/tracts/more-stumpers-for-the-jehovahs-witnesses

The one thing I can’t stress enough is understanding that they do not and will not care what you have to say because anything outside of their organization is considered worldly and therefore not of God. The articles above are good information but do not be discurraged if the JW does not read them or anything you give them. They most likely will tell you “I used to be Catholic so I know what the church teaches” never really reading the matreial. My response is “I thought I was Catholic, untill I read this”.

With this sort of mind set you may become frustrated as logical arguments and historical evidence will be brushed away to make way for their indoctrinational stance. They are good people but they do not think logically and as one of the above articales says, no matter what be kind and always show them Christ in you.

I have had many debates with JWs so if there is any spacific issue or doctrine you need info on please feel free to PM me.

Peace!!!

I tell them that my reading of the Early Church Fathers showed me that the Catholic Church is the same now as it was in the 1st and 2nd centuries. I mention a couple of names like Justin Martyr, Ireneaus, and Ignatius of Antioch and explain that these guys received their teaching from the apostles themselves, or from someone else who had done so.

I explain that this took me from being a Catholic in name only to a fervent one. I wanted to worship the One True God as He wanted to be worshipped, and was led to do so in the Holy Catholic Church, which has the FULL deposit of Faith and Truth.

Then offer a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to guide them to the Truth.
