Wow, the tweets in the article make me glad I don’t follow twitter. Anti-Catholic indeed.

I read the Daily News article all the way through twice, looking for the part where it says that the anti-Catholic attacks on ACB will help get Trump reelected. It isn’t there. The article never says that. It doesn’t produce a single scrap of evidence to suggest that the attacks are likely to have a backlash effect of that kind. The closest it gets is this:

In an election year where turnout could be consequential down to the tens of voters, that could help mobilize enough of the evangelicals, suburban women and Republicans who’d been drifting away from Trump right back into his arms.

“Turnout could be consequential … That could help mobilize …” That’s all there is. No “will help” him get reelected at all. The editor who put that title on the story was just daydreaming.

In either case, the slander was absolutely disgusting. It will definitely sway some voters. Maybe not in the numbers he needs, but some.

Christianity is one of those things that can be ridiculed with minimal backlash. That’s not being pessimistic or cynical but it’s just the way it is. The article is built on wishful thinking in my opinion.

Yes it’s disgusting but I expected as much after what happened with Brett Kavanaugh(and Clarence Thomas and Robert Bork.) With Robert Bork they attacked his postitions, they went for the character in Kavanaugh and Thomas.
Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh are also devout Catholics but with them they were able to drum up fake abuse charges since they were male. With Barrett that of course would be more difficult so they will have to go with the religious nut, secret cult member, etc, angle.

As Senator Dianne Feinstein asked will your catholic faith influence your decisions

Why is she being asked that and not every candidate that runs for office? She is being singled out because she is Catholic.

If she is nominated she’s going to have to bring a crucifix and holy water to the hearings.

Oh, I don’t know. I think the section immediately above the part you quoted makes the case:
  • When the left and members of the media attempt to otherize a conservative Catholic woman this way, it only affirms what Trump has been selling to his supporters for four years: that Democrats are out to get them, that feminism only defends “some” women, that he is the only protector of American Christianity, and that the media is fake news.

No, instead all she has to do is keep repeating under her breath,

Arise, O Lord, and scatter Your enemies
And let those who hate You flee before Your Face.

It’s the prayer Moses prayed every day before leading the Israelites on their travels. St. Athanasius, the pre-emminent exorcist of the 4th century, said this was the line of Scripture that demons hate the most. I have a friend who was able to get a group of satanists in a neighbor’s yard disband mid-ceremony just by standing next to the fence, out of sight, and whispering this prayer. A couple of hours later, when she was walking her dog, she passed in front of the neighbor’s house while he was in the yard. She didn’t say anything, but apparently he got this look of terror on his face and ran back inside.
