This semester I have a western civilization class. I love history, so I figured I’d take it as I needed it anyway. Unfortunately this class has a very anti-Catholic and anti-Christian/Judaism perspective in general.
For example, the textbook mentioned “iconoclasm” and it said there was a backlash in the 500’s/600’s towards religious art/statues. However, it went on to say there were Christians who used the art/statues as a reminder and didn’t worship them, but then the book says “there was a fine line between them…”
Give me a break. Using statues/art as reminders is nowhere near worshiping a statue. This is obviously anti Catholic. My teacher isn’t any better either. He earlier mentioned that Catholics “worship” statues and Orthodox worship “Icons”.
I love history, but this specific class is getting on my nerves. I hate seeing the Church getting bashed by uneducated atheists. It brings back painful memories of when I was a very stupid 13 year old atheist who hated all religions, but especially Christianity.
