I have a job that is a seasonal position but possibly can become permanent I work tomorrow December 26th. Now my anxiety is because I fear that I will be laid off I pray but I feel like it is not working. I don’t know my schedule beyond the 26th and I have been told that they start pulling people in to lay them off around mid January I have hit the ground running since I was hired for the Thanksgiving rush and trying to prove to them that they should keep me on . I would really like to work for jc Penney on a permanent basis so am I doing everything that I can do?

Have you told your boss you want to stay on full time or part time beyond the holidays? Have you asked your manager for feedback on how you are doing?

If not, you should directly express your desire to stay on and inquire on your performance and any ways you can improve.

Well, if you are punctual and reliable, doing your assigned job well, and pitching in to be helpful in whatever ways you can then I’d say the only thing more you can do is what I suggested above— make sure your boss knows your goals and ask for feedback on your job performance.

I have done this and asked them how I am doing. They have told me that I am doing a good job and I have come a long way since I was hired right before the Thanksgiving rush along with many other people who could possibly be there to just get a paycheck and leave after the holidays but I feel that I am one of those people who are hoping to become permanent employees but none of us will know what will happen until after the first of the year.
