I’m sorry you are having trouble with anxiety.

Unfortunately we are not permitted to give medical advice on this forum. What you describe sounds severe enough to require a doctor and a mental health counselor to help you. Please seek help.

is seeking mental health counselor allowed when youre catholic? because i heard from my friend who is non- catholic said “if youre seeking counselor means your faith is not strong enough” that actually makes me more afraid of seeking help from anyone

It is perfectly fine for a Catholic to seek medical or psychological help for anxiety or another mental issue such as depression. Priests often tell people to do so.

Catholicism does not have any prohibition on seeking mental health help. Catholicism does not teach that mental health issues are caused by a weakness of faith.
Your non-Catholic friend is wrong, and what they told you is not Catholic teaching.

Yes, you are allowed to get help. Your friend is wrong. Do not listen to such nonsense. People should seek help for medical or psychological problems as needed.

Your friend is mistaken. We are encouraged to use our rational brains to seek out medical professionals.

I have anxiety, too. I’m not a doctor, so I can’t help you, medically, but I am Christian, so I will help you spiritually. Prayers.

I’m a Catholic who has sought medical treatment for anxiety and am so glad that I did! Don’t listen to anyone telling you you cannot seek psychological treatment. If anything, the more mentally healthy you are, the better you can connect with god

While not giving medical advice, if “friends” and family are skinny shaming you, and you’re afraid to do anything because your parents might scream and be mad at you, then it sounds to me like you are a victim of verbal abuse. And, while verbal abuse doesn’t leave physical bruises or scars, it can have much worse mental and emotional consequences, even spiritual ones.

Verbal abuse is a fist to the soul. People need to remember that.

Perhaps you can speak with your priest about this. And please do pray about it.

if youre seeking counselor means your faith is not strong enough”
I had a lady that told me, and she sincerely believed at this, that a certain type of medicine which almost killed me, couldn’t hurt me if I take it in Jesus’s name. I had another person tell me that my depression is because my faith isn’t strong enough. God gave us a brain, I think we would do well to use it. I have no problem with faith healing, but sometimes you need the assistance of Medicine or therapy, or both. Just because someone said something like that, doesn’t make it true.
