I hope that some of us here, who have been to seminary, to give some advices for those who are about to enter seminary.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Dear Catholictrain:As the father of a seminarian, my advice is this:
Our faith is based on truth. Warm feelings, or consolations are a wonderful gift from God, but are not to be expected. Answering the call to become a priest is an act of the will. It is not a feeling. I have said a prayer for you. May God bless you with abundant blessings that overflow your heart and touch the lives of everyone you serve.![]()
Which Diocese do you belong to? Congrats on your son’s future vocation.Dear Catholictrain:
May the Lord bless you. Before I took Holy Orders I had a fine son (still do) who may yet make a solid pertinent Deacon (he’s about to bless me with my first grandchild). There can be no greater joy.
As to trains: My first novel The Farmer’s Daughter and the D&O (Downer and Outtington Railroad) is in edit. I suppose it’s a coming of age story, set in the pre-WWII, xenophobic Mid West, on a bankrupt, haywire 13 mile long short-line.
Any advice for first year seminarians? Never forget that there are men and women of God behind you. You don’t walk alone. :grouphug:
