Is it safe to say that his series Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven were, like, the gold standard when it came to family-friendly television?

I enjoyed his work as an actor. I did not approve of his personal life choice with respect to his marriages. I was sorry when he became ill and died young.

Yes, both of those shows were excellent. And as he was often the writer, director and producer of the episode, I would say a lot of him was in those shows.

I wonder what else he could have created if he had not died.

P.S. Yes, I also enjoy him in Bonanza now. When I was a child it was on late and it seemed boring. ☺️

They were indeed excellent shows. When I found out Melissa Sue Anderson (played Mary, about my age at the time) was Catholic and had a rosary hanging on her wall at home, I was in LOVE… 💓… those eyes…

Let us not forget that Melissa Gilbert (“Laura”) later played Jean Donovan, the Irish-American Catholic lay missionary martyred in El Salvador (as yet unbeatified along with her three comrades probably for political reasons), in a made-for-TV movie (“Choices of the Heart”).

Does anyone besides me remember Ray Liotta on Little House as the big kid on the school football team? It was probably one of his first acting jobs. (Before he moved on to a soap opera.)

Michael Landon, Jr. is some part of the Hallmark series, When Calls the Heart. My 13 and 11y/o daughters love that show, and I love watching it with them. Every time I want to roll my eyes at how predicable and unrealistic it is, I have to remind myself that this is, indeed what we long for!

I googled him recently to see what had happened to him as I did appreciate the kind of person he was always portrayed as,and wanted to see if he was similar in to that in real life.I was saddened to see he had passed on.
I think subconsciously to a degree for me he was a yardstick of human decency (if that makes sense) in his roles as a family man,a good citizen,a kind and caring person 🤔

An interesting book is “Confessions of a Prairie B&^$#” by by Alison Arngrim (trigger warning, it does contain very adult themes of abuse)

There was also a lot of crossovers in terms of people in Bonanza later showing up in LHOTP episodes (Dan Blocker’s son even appeared in a couple of episodes). He did have loyalty to his friends and colleagues. Some of the storylines were even carried over and changed slightly.

Mine is autographed.

Love Missy Sue’s book the best of all written by the “Little House” cast.

Both of those shows were very good. I enjoyed them very much. Too bad he passed so young.

Are you a Ray Liotta fan? I did not know he was in a soap opera. I have not spotted him
on Little House on the Prairie. I did not realize he started acting that young.

My favorite movie starring Ray Liotta besides
Goodfellas is Unlawful Entry @Irishmom2

Ray Liotta’s first acting role was as Joey Perrini on the soap opera, Another World. He played Joey from 1978-81.

I was never a soap opera fan. Of course, I
have heard of that one. He must have been pretty young. Was he a good guy or a bad guy on that show?

He was the most loveable hero. Blue collar worker. Had his pick of the ladies too. It was swoon city whenever he was on.

I wish I could see a picture of him from one of their episodes. I had no idea his career went
back that far.
