A friend’s friend is teaching RCIC. Several of the kids, coming from Protestant backgrounds, need information about the reformation and Martin Luther, from the Catholic perspective. Apparently in their homeschooling group, they got plenty of info about Luther from the Protestant viewpoint, so the leaders need the Catholic stance.

If you know of any childrens’ books which would address this, or any books for adults on this topic which could be simplified for kids, I sure would be grateful to you. I will pass the info along to my friend.

There is a Catholic children’s history book, Christ the King: Lord of History, that might be appropriate. Check out www.chcweb.com (Catholic Heritage Curricula) and look in their catalog under History. CHC is a wonderful resource for all Catholics, not just Catholic homeschoolers.

Here’s the direct link and there are other books on the page too for other grade levels. Christ the King is probably the most advanced of the titles.

Get the Father Laux volume on Church History from TAN books. Indeed, the whole Father Laux series is excellent.

Hillaire Belloc’s “How the Reformation Happened” is an excellent book which I think would be appropriate for high school or even many 7th or 8th graders.
