Hello, all:
I’m interested in reading a history of monks and friars, especially in connection with the outside world. For instance, I have found books on the history of nuns as teachers and nurses; I am looking for something comparable about monks. While I find the day-to-day life interesting, I am especially curious about the role monks played in shaping European or American history as teachers, chroniclers, etc.
Are there any such works?
