I am a classical musician who plays piano and the violin. I also sing bass in my dad’s church choir.

I’m not really sure I qualify, but I’ve played violin for at least a year. I also am an amateur alto singer.

I played classical guitar in middle school if that counts. I remember the music theory but technique is probably really rusty at this point.
Nowadays when I do make music it’s usually simple synthesizer/speedcore stuff, but it’s not a regular hobby of mine.

I had music piano teacher in childhood for some 7 years, it was pressure from parents. Now sometimes I am just trying to read from list Beethoven sonatas, Chopin Nocturnes. I am very fond of contemporary classical music and I have some sheet music from Glass and Einaudi, but it generally I would like to have a lot more, it is quite expensive (more than eur per page) and our local conservatoire has really little of contemporary music in its library.

I like instruments which have predefined timbre like pipe organ and hapsichord. I tried hapsichord one time but unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to touch any key of pipe organ, although I have been at the play-tables of two very good instruments. Incidentally - last Saturday I had the opportunity to visit (in the multi storied galleries) the beast with 124 stops in our local cathedral and organiste titulaire gave some talk there and answered also some of our questions.

I have violin at home, I tried to learn it, I thought that it is very hard to make sound. But well - it is not so hard to get some sound. My fingers are too short unfortunately for the violin, it is impossible to play without hurting myself. And I have tried to train vibrato, but - hoplessly. I have dream to have cello. But well - little time, unfortunately.

Yes I do! I started my lessons last year. Besides playing violin, I also love classical music.

If your fingers are too short for a full-sized violin, have you tried playing a three-quarter size violin? The sound is a little thinner, but still can sound good in competent hands.

Yes, I’m a keen amateur musician and can play several instruments. I prefer early music so devote most of my time now to harpsichord, clavichord and recorders. I play the church organ as well.

I can’t sing so when I attended college I was banished to the piano to accompany the SATB and male voice choirs.

Yes, I have heard about partial size violins but I specifically checked and bought the full size. I don’t know these matters but it was my opinion that the partial size instrument is not the professional one. And I like to pretend to act like professional. Just me.

There is contemporary organ music as well. I have heard it a lot from our local composers, but little can be found about contemporary organ music in youtube. Mostly it is Messiaen and Hakim but it would be nice to hear some more contemporary composers. But they are not posting youtube.

I asked the mentioned organiste titulaire whether the contemporary organ makers are making new stops today. But he replied that stops are more or less predefined for centuries. Organ makers are just making the same old stops but - of course - with their own touch and result.

Ooh, that’s really tough. I think it depends. I like Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, and Chopin. What about you?

Getting a classical musician to choose their favourite composer is torture for them
