Any Communities With a Specific Mission Against Abortion?

I know that every Catholic has a mission to end this atrocity, so I mean on a level more strict and deeper than the duty that every Catholic has by default.

I was, for a time, considering the Cloistered life. But more and more I find that I have this passionate abhorrence for the legality and widespread acceptace of abortion. It feels as though, if I am not doing everything in my power (actively, passively, and prayerfully, not excluding any of these three methods) that I will die feeling horribly useless. It weighs heavily on my soul…

Even now that I am considering visiting what looks to be a very nice Community, I cannot shrug off a reluctance based on the fact that their primary mission is not directly tied to the battle against abortion.

It’s not that such a community, if it exists, is superior (different charisms for different groups, I understand), but I feel such a strong pull towards the abolition of abortion that I wonder if there is any Religious Community known for “activism” (for lack of a better word) against the murder of the unborn?

Again, I know that just by being devout Catholics we oppose abortion, and I know that technically all Orders oppose Abortion by their prayers and refusal to take part in it. I’m just wondering if there are any orders primarily dedicated to this cause in both prayer and assertive action?

Thank you for your info and for any prayers!

I know a few.

Sisters of Life in NYC
sistersoflife.org/
–Their mission is to “protect and enhance the dignity of the human person.” They take a special sacred 4th vow for this reason.

Sisters of the Gospel of Life
gospeloflifesisters.wordpress.com/
–They are a Community defending respect for the right to life for all. Their order is in the UK, and they have the same mission as the Sisters of Life.

I’ll do some searching, but these are the ones I know of the top of my head. If I think of any more, I’ll post them. 🙂

Thanks for the very quick and efficient responses! I’m a male, though, so I don’t think I’d make the cut with those… 😃

Sorry, I probably shoulda said that in the beginning of the thread. 😊

But just to be sure you know, I really do appreciate what you’ve both given so far. Even though I can’t join those particular communities, reading about them gives me hope that somewhere out there, there may be a community like that for men as well.

Thanks! 🙂

Whoops! Sorry! Then, I would suggest:

Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
franciscanfriars.com/
–If you watch their series on Youtube, they go to abortion clinics to try to sway people to not have abortions. They are a WONDERFUL community! I have met several of their friars, and I am impressed.

Here’s a letter from Fr. Glenn Sudano (who I met recently at a retreat):

Here’s an article from last year about the friars:

I also know that the Priests for Life have that specific mission. They are not a religious order, but they have a community goal:

I’m still searching for others…

I’ve been searching for others, and here’s what I found:

Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate

It’s the Human Life International. They have seminarians, too.

You could start by working for us:

cloisters.tripod.com/charity/

Click on “ministries” then find “Holy Innocents.” Click that link, and you’ll be taken to the page.

The RCICs are all women right now. We could use “a few good men.”

Blessings,
Cloisters
