Any Cursillistas here?

Is this anything like the Koinonia retreat offered at some universities?

I did a cursillo in 1980. At that time I was studying to become a Catholic. The cursillo was “fun” but the people leading it and many attending it were waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too “liberal” for my taste as a protestant back then and now looking back even more waaaaay too liberal for my taste as a Catholic now. I remember particularly being taken aback by the young women dressed in lightweight flowing white garments with ribbons and flowers dancing before the altar prior to and during Mass. I really expected somebody to whip out a silver platter any second with John the Baptist’s head on it. As I say, for the most part, it was a fun weekend but that covers it.

Anyone here ever attend a Cursillo?
DE COLORES! :tiphat:

I made my Cursillo weekend in September 1977, Toronto. The experience brought about my reversion to the Catholic faith. We were blessed to have the charismatic and humorous Father Ted Colleton direct the retreat.

👍

I attended the “Roman Weekend” in Garden, MI ( marygrove.org/ ), it was approximately 1993 while I was attending MTU. It was a GREAT blessing to me, a sort of epiphany.

(I think one should be discerned to be “ready for it” by their sponsor(s) before they attend… Though I do know someone who wasn’t really happy with their weekend, to my great surprise at the time… But it did seem to plant a seed that has grown since then. THE SPIRIT is clearly at work in His people!)

Since then I’ve moved. Here we had Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP is pronounced “chirp”), which has many similarities and like Cursillos in Christianity, CRHP has really “lit up” the faith of many of my friends.

PAX!
