Im my diocese, the evangelization budget has been cut to nothing in favor of social outreach - work with immigrants and the dis-enfranchised.
Not necessarily a bad thing, but this diocese removes pretty much all orthodox Catholic/Christian elements from their social outreach.
Even the highly touted soup kitchen plays down Christianity by not haveing literature, Bibles or any such resources availalbe out of “sensitivity” to the admittedly largely non-Cathlic population that makes use of the social services in this diocese.
Those of us who bring this up are called pre-Vatican II and mean spirited.
What I want to know, are there dioceses in the US that have not just a social outreach but an evangelical one. Combining the two which is the ideal and trying to win souls in the process. Cause it just ain’t happening here.
