When I was first coming to the Catholic Church, I fell in love with the Maronite Catholic Church, but felt more comfortable in the Latin Rite and even enjoy the traditions and the Chants the Latin Church does each sunday.

God Bless

I know those who do but mostly because RC parishes are more accessible, their kids go to RC schools and thus are immersed more in RC tradition, and therefore they all continue to be RCs.

Interesting, it seems more Latin Catholcs are attracted to the Eastern Churches

Maybe, but many will probably end up back in their Latin parishes, especially if the EC has a strong cultural/ex-pat aspect (such as Ukrainians in the UGCC).

When a Latin Catholic parish slips into mediocrity, uses Protestant hymnography, abandons good catechsis and homiletics, where reverence becomes sloppy or questionable, abandons certain cherished Catholic traditions, where putting butts on pews is more important than teaching and living the Catholic faith…well…Some of those things are important to some people, so they begin to look elsewhere. One of those places is the Eastern Church.

My wife and I are Byzantine Catholic and would dearly love to belong to a Byzantine Catholic parish but there are certain logistical issues which prevent that. So, unless and until those change, we make our “home” at our local Latin Catholic parish. Not ideal for us, but also not as bad as what I described above. We’re at home there, and it works for us.

There is as much in Western Catholic spirituality that we relate to and love as there is in Eastern Catholic spirituality. However, we do prefer the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom slightly more than the N.O. Mass.

Someone once said that “the whole of the spiritual life is in how you play the hand you’re dealt.”

In Christ,
Jeff
