My husband and I were just married in the Church on April 24 of this year.
Our baby is due January 24 - exactly nine months after the wedding! Are we good Catholics or what?

I was married before and had three kids. When I became Catholic, I applied for and received an annulment. My husband lost his wife in Nov. 2001 to breast cancer. Between us we have 4 children ages 11-17. So having a newborn is going to be quite an experience for us “older” parents.

Any other expectant parents out there?

Congratulations! My wife and I are expecting a baby in September. This will be our forth child. I’ll be praying for you!

Expecting our third (a girl) at the end of July. We have been married for 4 years. 🙂

Was expecting a new arrival on June 18, he decided to come out a bit early. We welcomed Nathan Alexander Pillie into the world at 2:50 am June 10th. He’s a pretty mellow kid, which is good because our other child is two and quite a handful! 🙂

Your Brother in Christ,
Derek

We are expecting our sixth child (a boy) in October! That will make four boys and two girls for us. We feel so blessed, as we were “done” after our third child, and Dean was eventually going to have a vasectomy. Thank God, I had a major “reversion” and my Jewish husband had a profound conversion, and now we are both devout Catholics, open to life.

Everytime I think that we might not have had our three latest children, I could weep. I am so grateful for God’s mercy, that we were allowed to see His plan for marriage and for life. I am so grateful to have all my kids. God is soooooooo good!

Congrats to all of you!!!

PS: Lisa, do you have a good solid parish out there in Seattle? Do you mind telling me what parish it is?

Ocha,

Congratulations to you and the other new and expectant parents!
I’m a new Catholic, so I really can’t say how “solid” our parish is because I really have no basis for comparison. We have a Carmelite priest and my impression is that he is very devout. Our parish is more conservative, especially when you consider that we are in the archdiocese of Seattle. Some members are trying to institute perpetual adoration. That may come along next year. We have a vibrant youth program, a great new deacon, Sunday night Mass featuring contemporary Christian program, and small group Bible studies.
My only disappointment, maybe coming from a Lutheran background, is that the homilies don’t go into much depth to really explain the Catholic faith.
I get that from Catholic Answers!

Lisa, thanks for telling me that. It sounds pretty good! The reason I ask is that I have a lukewarm, fairly ignorant Catholic friend from college who is trying to get back to the Faith, although she is married to an atheist and it is hard. She lives in Seattle, and she is going to a horribly liberal, dissenting parish. I am trying to convince her to try another parish!!! Do you mind telling me the name of yours? Or if you don’t feel comfortable telling me on the forum, can you send a private message to me letting me know? Only if you feel comfortable.

God bless!
Leila

My parish is St. Cecilia’s in Stanwood. That is quite a bit north of Seattle. I do know of a good parish that a friend of mine is a deacon at, called Holy Names in Kirkland. Another good parish is St. Louise in Bellevue.

By the way, some sad news… we lost the baby on July 2 at 10 weeks. He is in heaven now, singing with the angels. And we are left here on earth to mourn what could have been.

Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby. I will keep you in my prayers and ask that God hold you in the palm of His hand during this difficult time of mourning.

Love, Abby

So sorry to hear of your loss Lisa. Your family is in our prayers!

Derek

My prayers go out to you Lisa. We are expecting our second child on December 21st, and tears come to my eyes just thinking about losing my baby. Although I would be solaced by the knowledge that I have a little saint in heaven.

A little true story that may help-

My aunt Donna’s first child was stillborn. It was a girl and they named her Colleen. She went on to have five more children. When the oldest was pregnant with her first child, she and her husband prayed to Colleen for her intercession for their baby (they did not tell anybody they were doing this). The evening after the baby was born, Donna was at home bathing her youngest child (3). While she was doing this, she was praying out loud and thanking God for a healthy grandson. In the midst of this she exclaimed- “and he was born on my birthday!” . She immediately stopped and thought, why did I say that?- her birthday was in October and this was July!. She pondered over it and looked at a calender. She then realized that it was actually Colleen’s birthday! She was not 100% certain that it was the right date, so she had her sister-in-law (an OB nurse) check the records. What she discovered was astounding! The baby had been born not only on the same day, but at the same exact time as Colleen!

May the knowledge that you have your own saint in heaven praying for you help you through this tough time.

Hey, I just found out that my husband and I are expecting our first in early March! Actually, I’m overseas right now, so you’re hearing it before my husband…

I’m currently wasting time trying to find a good site for Catholic baby names. I’m looking for something religious, but not necessarily a list of saint’s names as I’m not likely to name my baby Vulganius. Any suggestions? I seems like too many “regular” baby sites have a lot of Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, etc. names.
