Hello, I’m wondering if anyone out there has managed to remove themselves successfully from the Santeria religion and into Catholicism (or back into Catholicism). I know there’s the general belief that it’s of the devil but that stance sounds way extreme. There’s is no devil worship whatsoever in Santeria, it’s a whole different type of system. I have even studied it from an academic perspective, or maybe I’m completely wrong here. Regardless, it doesn’t seem like the right path. And perhaps I’m just trying to rationalize it too much.
So, I’d love to hear from any of you who have made initiations into Santeria and then chose to leave Santeria and return all their Santeria implements in order to fully commit to Catholicism/Christianity. How was the aftermath for you (or someone else you might know who has)? Did you experience any anxiety when doing it? If so, how did you manage that anxiety? Did you return the implements to the santeros who gave them to you? Did you dispose of them in a Catholic church? Did you suffer any “spiritual consequences”? The more detail the better, please.
There are some non-Catholic Christians who speak of their conversions away from Santeria, but I’m not sure I believe them. They all follow a similar pattern and often get details about the Santeria religion all wrong (telltale sign they probably weren’t even involved in it to begin with). I want to hear real, true experiences, not fabricated ones.
I appreciate any honest feedback and hope to hear back soon. Thanks!
