Apologies if this is the wrong category…

I’m a SSA Catholic who is trying to pursue celibacy. Its hard to fathom such a future considering the hypersexualized society that we live in. It would be great to find some guidance, other than courage because I can’t get to it. So, any good books about living a celibate life?

I have not read this yet fully, but I stumbled upon it when looking for some good saint books on saintbooks.net

It’s by St. Ambrose of Milan, entitled simply “Concerning Virginity”. It’s a little more to digest as far as wordiness, but once you cut through that, I think there’s some really good information in there.

There’s also “And You are Christ’s” by Father Thomas Dubay. And You Are Christ's: The Charism of Virginity and the Celibate Life by Thomas Dubay

When I first divorced and then with my return to the Church, someone suggested the book “The Thrill of the Chaste” by Dawn Eden. It was so very helpful to me in reorienting my thinking in the midst of this hypersexualized society I live in.

I was so excited about what I gained from that book, that I started talking with my agnostic and atheist friends about chastity, and one of them even talked with her boyfriend about it!

I think I gave the book to a friend years ago, so I can’t really reference it more than to say how helpful it was to me to get me thinking differently (after many years of doing pretty much what everyone around me was doing, and it wasn’t pretty, let me tell you).

God bless you. I will keep you in my prayers!
