I have been involved with a prison ministry team for a few months now and was wondering if anyone knew of any good books about prison ministry.

Not sure about books, but there was a small thread about this a while back. Here.

You can do a search on the forums for “prison ministry” as well.

Peace.

Beyond The Fence is a good one. I can’t remember the author’s name, but he was a cop, who turned Catholic, who then became a prison evangelist. It’s great for how to avoid getting gamed while still having a loving heart toward inmates, and all the other little known stuff.

If your interest is not in Catholic only ministries check out Chuck Colson, a Nixon administration member who served time and became a Christian in prison, and the only person involved in Nixon’s crimes to admit and apologize for what he did. Also check out Rock of Ages Prison Ministries. Good luck and God Bless you if you are getting into prison outreach. As a prison guard for 13 years I know it has an important impact on prisoners and evangelists.

Thank you all for your help. Prison ministry really is a powerful experience. Sometimes it gets difficult because I feel like I am at a loss for words, or I don’t know how to respond to certain certain things.
Thanks again for your help.
