Any Hellboy Fans?

Anyone like Hellboy? I haven’t read the comic but I saw the movie twice in theaters and got it for Christmas on dvd.

I know Hellboy’s “father” is Catholic in the movie, he holds a rosary most of the time. Yes the movie is dark but has the underlining theme of “choose your own destiny”
 
The movie did not have a great plot. That said I couldn’t help but go wow at the underlying theme.

The biggest laugh I had though was when I complained to my husband " they didn’t tell us what happened to that guy" only to have it explained after the credits and we were the only ones left in the theater.

Yes. The movie was great but its markedly different to the book (the comics have no romance or Agent Myers).

It’s a very Catholic book IMO. I know a few priests who love the character.

One of my favorite movies of all times, and that’s saying a lot as I’m a big movie buff. I went to see the film because it looked fun, never expecting to have one of the deepest religious experiences of my life.

Both the original comics and the movie have a deeply theological Catholic subtext that really deepened my faith and made me a better Catholic, a better person. I have, since first seeing the movie (which I have seen in the theater 4 times and on my DVD countless times), written ove 30 fan fictions based on the movie; many of which stress the Catholic subtext.

I know that there are a lot of Catholics out there who might not experience the movie and comics as I did; but my life would be much more empty without having seen the big red guy.

I enjoyed it as well. It’s not a great movie, but it’s definitely enjoyable. Whoever thought they could successfully pull off a Nazi Zombie Ninja for the main bad guy and have it work?

I’m definitely looking forward to Hellboy 2.
