I was wondering if there are any older married women out there still using NFP? I’m 53 and still cycling, although some months I have the mucus and some don’t. I am tired of taking the temperatures, mine are always low like 97 F.(my thyroid was checked and its normal). Its imperative I avoid pregnancy at my age plus the fact I have a couple of serious medical problems that would make it more dangerous. Any advice besides abstainence?

You should look into learning Creighton. I believe it affords more options for “special situations” including peri-menopause. Visit www.creightonmodel.com and www.fertilitycare.org to find a teacher.

😉 Hi ya,
Be happy that you have to ask this question. Being 49 1/2 myself and no good mate on the horizon, I doubt that the issue you speak of will ever be a problem for me… sorry to say…

Joanie, don’t write off a future mate yet! A widowed friend of mine is 55 and starting to date again! Hmmm…maybe pray to find a hubby??

I am 49 and know just where you are at!! Have you ever read Marilyn Shannon’s book called Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition. It has some very helpful advice on supplements that you can take that make it more obvious when you are fertile, IF you are still fertile. Also, have you ever taken an NFP course? Your teaching couple can be very helpful to you now. If you know of a teaching couple in your area, give them a call. You can find them through Couple to Couple League at www.ccli.org.
I hadn’t had an ovulatory cycle for 3 months, then this past cycle I know I ovulated. Things are getting interesting!

Joanie,

I encourage you to visit www.avemariasingles.com and sign up if you are looking for a seriously Catholic spouse.

My fiance is 44 and I am 38, and we were both on 2 years before we crossed paths. We never would have met without technology!
