Here in Southern California, on Sunday mornings there’s a show on AM radio in which the host pretends to be Jesus. People call in and ask religious or life issues type questions.

I only get snippets on the car radio (since I’m usually on my way to church myself), but based on the limited exposure I’ve had to it, the host seems to be fairly mainstream and non-demoninational conservative. And again, in this limited exposure, I’ve not heard anything overtly anti-Catholic.

Of course, the whole idea of pretending to be Jesus makes me cringe. CALLER: “Hello Jesus, I have this problem…”

Have any of you ever heard this show, and if so, what are your impressions?

Never heard of it, but pretending to be Our Lord is blasphemy.

Well, I assume that the pretending to be Jesus part is meant to be a clearly transparent, tongue-in-cheek sort of thing. I certainly hope that no one calling in REALLY believes this.

No, but it is still blasphemy to do so.

No - movies very clearly state in their promotional material and at the start and/or end credits the name of the actor portraying Jesus Christ.

Also partially depends on the nature of the portrayal of Christ - for example years ago there was a film called ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ in which the portrayal of Jesus arguably crossed the line into blasphemy, and sparked a lot of protests.
