Any recovering sex addicts to offer perspective on life?

Hi there to any recovering sex addict reading this.

I just recently started my journey on beating it, with Gods help through SA. I wont go into detail in a public forum but i remember acting out since i was 6 years old. Just got worse as years went on. Now im 25, devil is testing my 5 month engagement which may breakup for other reasons but also including recovering from sex addiction.

Is there anyone here that would be willing to connect off the forum and offer perspective, pray together and help each other further heal? I am just looking for someone in the faith to relate too about this. Anyone out there?

I don’t have anything to offer, really, but my understanding is with sexual addiction there are support groups similar to alcoholics and narcotic recovery. Is that an option for you?

I used to be addicted to pornography and masturbation. God has helped me make a lot of progress in this area. I haven’t masturbated in two weeks; when I was addicted, I never would have thought that that was possible. The battle with sexual sin is primarily won in the mind. You have to think the right thoughts.

The addiction involved a lot of that, so i understand where you are coming from. The addiction that got me also involved actual sex multiples of times. I hadnt come to terms with it being a proper addiction till three weeks ago. Subconcious kept surpressing it or the demons within trying to capture my soul held on to it for a long time.

Wondering if there is anyone else out there thats Catholic and been through very similar situation?

I don’t have any personal experience in this matter but you are in my prayers. Catholic speaker Matt Fradd on YouTube is a fantastic resource for this topic if you haven’t heard of him before.
