Hi everyone:

Tomorrow I’ll be going on vacation with my family to a little village near the beach. I will use this time both to disconnect from my job, distractions, information overload, internet, news… so I’ll just take my ereader and a portable piano.

But I also want to use this time to reconnect with God. I’ll purposefully be more isolated and I think this is a great opportunity to pray a bit, and to search for God in my life at a calmer rythm. I’ve been trying to pray at least a daily Rosary during these last weeks, and I want to continue praying it. But I think I could also increase a little bit my prayer life.

Do you have any suggestion on how to do that? Thank you very much.

Make some plan (write it) and follow it. Don’t put too many things on your list and don’t expect to always be able to follow it.

🙂

Not sure where you are located but you can look up if in the area there is a historical church or shrine. You can plan a mini pilgrimage. Sometimes there are amazing churches or chapels near the beach.

Wow. U are so blessed u can go on a vacation in the middle of a pandemic:cry::cry: May God bless your trip.

Night Prayer. For those of us who cannot commit to praying all of the offices in a day, Night Prayer is a beautiful way to close the day.

@Inbonum I’ll try something like this. I try to pray the Rosary, but I’m being less rigid than prior times… and surprisingly, it’s working better. Thank you.

@0Scarlett_nidiyilii Maybe I can try with the Gospel of each day…

@aroosi There are some shrines in the area. I may go to one. Thank you!

@angelo I know, I know. We can do this since we’re in Europe (we had the strongest hit of the virus prior to the US. Your name is Italian, so you may also know about this first hand…), and mainly because we’re going to our secondary home. Also, we’re going with uncertainty. We may have to return at half our vacation, but since that doesn’t depend on us… we won’t worry too much. Thank you very much.

@TheLittleLady That’s something I have to work on, not only on vacation, but through the entire year!! Thank you

We like to attend daily Mass when we are on vacation. Starts the day off right and makes wherever you are seem like home.
We were in Florida a couple winters ago and went to Mass, then struck up a conversation with the priest, who was Polish. We all went out to breakfast together and since my wife is Polish, he was able to reminisce about his family back home.
